NO NGS CE IN NH
For the remainder of 2019, there will be 2 more NGS CE conferences: October 20 in Costa Mesa, CA and November 3 in Malvern, PA. The NGS will not be offering a program in NH.OCTOBER-DECEMBER WEBINARS APPROVED IN CA
The NGS live webinars in October-December have been approved by the California Board of Optometry. California accepts up to 20 hours of CE earned through documented audio and/or video courses.FALL WEBINARS APPROVED IN MI
The NGS webinars in September - December have been approved by the Michigan Board of Optometry. We recommend that you consider these webinars to be on-line CE for a Michigan license. Michigan Optometry Rule 338.323(h) allows up to 20 hours of continuing education (half of the 40 hours required in each 2-year cycle) to be obtained from "multimedia education, including online continuing education, approved by the Board."FALL WEBINARS APPROVED IN MN
The NGS live webinars in September - December have been approved by the Minnesota Board of Optometry as live CE.FALL WEBINARS APPROVED IN NY & TX
The NGS live webinars in September - December have been approved by the New York and Texas Boards of Optometry as live CE.CHANGE TO WEBINAR APPROVAL IN VERMONT
We received notification that, as of July 1, any application for course approval by the Vermont Board of Optometry will cost providers $100 per course. Given the number of webinars that the NGS offers in a year and the limited number of optometrists in Vermont, this cost would pose an undue burden on the NGS. As a result, the NGS will no longer submit the NGS live webinars to Vermont for approval. The cost for individual doctors to request approval is only $25 per course, so if doctors in Vermont would like one of the NGS webinars approved, they could submit their own request to the Board.UPDATE ON FLORIDA APPROVAL OF WEBINARS
At their June 22, 2018 meeting, the Florida Board of Optometry agreed that any prior NGS live webinars approved by the Board would be acceptable as CE for renewal of a Florida license this biennial, which ends February 28, 2019. However, they decided to restrict the number of online CE in the future to 2 hours of controlled substances education and 2 hours of practice management. Since the NGS does not offer webinars in controlled substances or practice management, no current or future NGS webinars will be submitted for approval in Florida.
