Who gets Glaucoma?

posted by: Bud O'Leary, OD

The incidence of glaucoma increases with age. The most common type of glaucoma, open angle glaucoma, is not usually found in people under the age of 40. The average age of onset is 54 years old. About 2% of those over the age of 40 develop glaucoma. It is estimated that up to 3 million Americans have glaucoma.
